It is dark over the island, the silence is consuming in the minds of the sleeping residences. Only the hooting owls stir in the trees, those last few remnants of the day scuttle and scurry about. They must hurry, flee from the coming dark. It is the rats after all that know to flee a sinking ship before it slips even briefly beneath the waves. The night is blanketing, there is something unnatural about its presence, something heavier about it, and it is a suffocating night. A wrong night. It lurks in the shadows, creeps in to the hearts and minds of all those sleep, all those who wake and move, dark invisible claws reaching climbing into the brain, into the Id. It whispers. It screams. It yells cries and squeals. Each word chosen, picked specifically for each person. Their deepest fears, biggest paranoia, those little secrets that they keep locked away within the windmills of their minds, what nobody else will ever know. Desires, thoughts, hates and rages. The dream Begins, REM claims each host, tainted, controlled and trapped. From Each start it is obvious something is wrong.
It is a Meadow, bright in the morning sun. Poppies coat the field, tainting the normal green a bright red. There is nothing but fields for the eye to see, in each distance a varying range of fields, some green, some yellow, some purple and blue. The sky is clean; there are no clouds, not a wisp up there only the sun. The bright...burning sun. A figure stands some distance, dressed perfectly in red cravat and dark suit. There is no fear; everything is calm as you watch him, he does not move, nor shift an inch. Simply watch you watching him. The desire to move overwhelms you, and you have to walk forward, straight through the poppies, as you walk you rip the heads from their stalks with no touch just mere movement. It grows dark as you watch that man is still there. The sky burns red, the sun turns dark, the black flames curling inwards. The grass begins to curl, burning in an invisible flame, the poppies fall to the ground coating it in blood sheen. The world is soon suffocating in on you, everything, you are aware of everything each petal that falls, each blade that curls you feel it all see it all. That man is still there. You come to the edge. The dark peek that overhangs into a void of sheer nothing. You stare inwards, in to the heart of that pure nothing. An all consuming fear, there is nothing of you but the heart and mind left. As you stare inwards, you are purged of all good thoughts and leave nothing but that which you know in the deepest depths of your soul is wrong. Truly wrong. As you stare, unmoving, terrified. You know but one pure thought.... There are no Angels here, No protection... nothing for you.
Then you wake.
